About AWIA

First formed in 2004 as Port 80 Inc, the Australian Web Industry Association (AWIA), as it is now known, was created to bring together like-minded industry professionals to promote learning, interaction and personal development.

As the first association of its kind to represent the web industry in Australia, AWIA provides events aimed at promoting networking and social interaction between it's members. It also provides learning and development opportunities through an annual program of workshops and seminars, as well as an established online community forum and member directory.

Additionally, AWIA runs Edge of the Web, a two-day event packed with leading international and national web industry speakers, as well as the Australian Web Awards which recognise excellence in web development and design for individuals and organisations across the country.

Port80 networking meetings are held in Perth, Melbourne and Canberra. A group in New York who learned about AWIA has also created their own series of events based on the Port80 meeting model. If you are a member and interested in developing a Port80 series in your local area contact us now for more information.

Committee Members

The Australian Web Industry Association (AWIA) is steered by a group of members elected to the committee by the association’s membership at the annual general meeting each July - August.

Committee members serve a two-year term and are responsible for day-to-day running of the association, planning events, liaising with industry, education and government and more. AWIA members automatically qualify for election onto the Committee and can stand for election once member's terms are complete.

So if you are interested in helping steer the future direction of the association and affecting the future of our industry, let us know!
